Hands-on Activities for Innovative Problem Solving* - Stanford University

The problem has many solutions, for example: (10-5)*24/(3-2)=120, or (10-5)(3-2)*24=120. Solutions of many problems depend on initial assumptions made by the students. For example, the group-based problem: “Estimate the number of dentists in Los Angeles, California” leads students to generate their own estimated-data for the problem.
